FERPA(Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) ** Student Information Proxy Release Form ** ** Authorized User access ** • 1974 federal statute that governs student educational records • Students decide if a third person, i.e., a parent, can obtain information on them: • “No one inside or outside the University shall have access to, nor will the contents of students’ education records be disclosed without the written consent of the student.” BURSAR’S OFFICE (505) 277-5363 bursar.unm.edu

Financial Responsibility • Account balance is student’s responsibility, regardless of who is paying • Failure to attend classes does not constitute official drop or withdrawal • Prior semester balances will result in enrollment cancellation • Unpaid balances will be sent to external collections once internal collections efforts have failed • Will negatively impact credit rating • Additional fees, such as collection fees, legal fees, etc., will be the student’s responsibility BURSAR’S OFFICE (505) 277-5363 bursar.unm.edu
