  2. First visit Health history Past pregnancies Physical Pelvis EDD-Nagle’s Rule Labs Subsequent visits FHT-V/S Urine dip Fundal hgt MS-AFP- 16 weeks CBC@14-36 wks Antibody titer 24-36 50 gms glucose 28 wks Nursing Assessment

  3. Schedule of Visits • Every 4 weeks until 28 weeks • Every 2 weeks until 36 weeks • Every week until birth • If at risk increase maternal and fetal surveillance

  4. Vocabulary • Ab- before 20 weeks • Nullipara- no births before 20 weeks • Primpara -one birth after 20 weeks • Gravida- pregnancy regardless of duration • Nagle’s rule minus three months + 7days

  5. Nursing Interventions • Nutrition and weight gain • 3-5 lbs first trimester • 1 lb. per week for 2nd and 3rd trimester • Anticipatory guidance- trimester appropriate • Childbirth classes-trimester appropriate

  6. Danger Signs of Pregnancy • PROM • Premature contractions • Bleeding • Fever, chills • Blurry vision, H/A, epigastric pain • Decrease fetal movement

  7. True Labor • Increase in UC frequency, duration, intensity • Bloody show • Loss of mucous plug • Rupture of membranes • Assess previous hx
