  2. Family Moses Wright: Tills Uncle. Till never knew his father, he was a private in the United States army during WW2. Mamie Till: Emmett Tills mother, an extraordinary woman everyone said. Both parents were part of a working class.

  3. Background Information • Emmett Till was born on July 25, 1941 • Till was born in Chicago, Illinois. • Emmett died on August 28, 1955 in Money Mississippi. • His full name was Emmett Louis Till.

  4. The story On August 24, 1955 Emmett and his friends entered bryants grocery store and meat market. While purchasing a pack of gum his friends said he either whistled at, flirted with, or touched the hands of the stores clerk Carolyn Bryant which is owners wife.

  5. The Story Four days later at 2:30 in the morning Roy Brant,Carolyn's husband and his half brother J.W milam kidnapped Till from Moses Wrights home.

  6. The story Emmett Till was brutally beaten then they shot him in the head. They tied Emmett Till to a large metal fan with a length of barb wire dumping the corpse into the river.

  7. The story Three days after the murder his corpse was pulled out of the river. Tills face was so destroyed and unrecognizable that his uncle only managed to positively identify him by the ring on his finger, engraved with his father's initials, L.T.

  8. The story The trial began on september 19, 1955 Had to find unbiased jurors. A series of prosecution left witnesses left no reasonable doubt that Milam and Bryant abducted Till, then murdering him hours later.

  9. The End In the end they found Milam and Bryant Not Guilty to the presented charges of murder and kidnapping, six weeks later they were tried again yet still were found guilty.
