  3. What is Term Activation? • Term Activation is both the name of a page and a process in Campus Solutions that must be completed each term a student intends to enroll in classes at BGSU Process: Page:

What is Term Activation? • The Term Activation process makes Student Records active for the term and allows students to enroll for classes • This process is usually completed automatically, by Registration and Records, each semester, prior to the start of enrollment (Term Activation Batch Process) • In addition, Term Activation can be conducted manually, by Student Services Offices, for late enrolling students (Term Activate a Student page)

  7. Term Activation Terminology • Academic Institution Displays the Academic Institution if set as a user default (BGSUN)

  8. Term Activation Terminology • Academic Career: The student is categorized as an Undergraduate or Graduate

  9. Term Activation Terminology • Academic Program: Designates the course of study to which the student applies, is admitted into, and graduates from HLTH = Health and Human Services

  10. Term Activation Terminology • Term: The term in which the student is active

  11. Term Activation Terminology • Student Career Number: Differentiates a student’s multiple academic programs within the same academic career and is used to perform various calculations including academic level and load

  12. Term Activation Terminology • Academic Level: Term Start • Academic level of student at the beginning of the term • Academic Level: Term End • Academic level of the student at the end of the term

  13. Term Activation Terminology • Academic Year • The system defaults the academic year based on the Term entered • Academic Load • Is the student full-time or part-time? • Eligible to Enroll • A check in the box indicates the student is able to enroll for the activated term

  17. Term Activation Terminology • Effective Dates • Effective Dates are key in determining which term changes take effect

  18. Understanding the Term Activation Process • Students must be associated with an Academic Career tied to a valid/active Academic Plan within an Academic Program before they can be term activated

Understanding the Term Activation Process • Every student must have at least one career • Undergraduate or Graduate • A career must have at least one active program • HLTH = Health and Human Services • DOCT = Doctoral Program • A program must have at least one active plan • Major, minor, or certificate = BSNUR • Field of Study = ACS-Phd

  21. Term Activation Affects… • Financial Aid Module • Financial Aid is automatically generated • Student Financials Module • Student billing occurs • Various Business Processes • Some business processes can only be completed if the student has been Term Activated

Summary • Term Activation prepares student records for enrollment • Term Activation will usually be processed automatically once per semester • Manual Term Activation will be allowed for exceptions • Students have to be attached to active careers, programs, and plans • Term Activation drives other activities such as financial aid and tuition calculations
