    2. Total Units Total annual units = 120 Semester split Min. 50 units in each semester Max. 70 units in each semester Second Year Max. 80 units from any 1 pathway of study Levels Normally Year 2 you take Year 2 units Normally Year 3 you take Year 3 units 2

Taking units from other levels But may take Year 1 units Up to max. of 20 units of courses listed in the second year programme structure OR as free choice courses Exceptionally: more than 20 units with permission of the Programme Director or Programme Tutors (No Y3 units in Y2) (In Y3 again max. only 20 Y2 (no Y1) units) 3

Free Choice Units Up to 20 units Manchester Leadership Programme (MLP) (only Y2 10 or 20) BA(Econ) Free Choice Course Form (available on SoSS Intranet and from UG office) Not needed for MLP and BMAP Business and Management Programmes Get permission and register with school running course (details on page 7 in the options booklet) Don’t put off doing free choice course units until final year much stricter in granting permission in the final year Y2 “optimum stage” to select such unit(s) Note: you don’t have to do a free choice unit! BA Econ already broad 7

Registration Registration Units University Read Instructions in the booklet Units Pre-register online - Campus Solutions from mid July (d-tbc but not for courses with prerequisites which you have resits) Look out for Quotas ‘Q’ Economic and Social History pre-registration from Wednesday 4th May-9th May – (page 6) University Registration beginning of September 8

Examinations Degree class: Y2=25% plus Y3=75% First year marks “do not count” But Transcript Fails: original mark plus R Resits C Compensated Knowledge Predictor Y1: pass or fail exam as a whole To pass the exam as a whole you need: Pass courses totalling 100 units - Pass mark 40% Aggregate of 480 to compensate for failed units Min. 30% in any failed unit 10

In addition to passing exam as a whole Some pathway specialists (single or joint) must pass some units (compulsory resits if fail) Economics: ECON: (ECON10041 and ECON10042) or (ECON10081 and ECON10082) MATHS AND STATS: (ECON10061 and ECON10062) or (ECON10001 and ECON10132) or (ECON10071 and ECON10072) Accounting or Finance students BMAN10501, BMAN10512, BMAN10522 Business Studies (BS) & Development Studies (DS) must also pass core units/pre-requisites BS: Micro: ECON10041 or ECON10081 DS: Econ: ECON10041 and ECON10042 OR ECON10081 and ECON10082 11

    12. Resits in August/September 2011 Monday 22 August - Friday 2 September Must keep this period free After resits – students who have not passed the year as a whole Resit for honours/Carrying units Passed 100 or 110 units (carry 10 or 20 units for Honours) (see page 4 – point 6) Exclusion 12
