  1. WIRELESS BODY AREA SENSOR NETWORK FOR POSTURE DETECTION Sumi K C S7CS Roll No:

  2. Introduction • Body Area Network • Makes use of user postures to implement alternate input system • Must be fast and real-time • Flexibility

  3. WiMoCA • Distributed Posture Recognition Application • Sensors are represented by Triaxial Integrated MEMS accelerometers • Use accelerometers to detect postures and gestures • Nodes are mounted on human body and are connected to a base station • Base station acts as a gateway that connects network to a PC

  4. WBASN Architecture • Wearable • Low-power • Modular Architecture Fig 1 WiMOCA System Structure

  5. WBASN Architecture • Three sections • MCU/Sensors • RF • Power Supply • Microcontroller • ATMega 8bit controller • AVR RISC architecture • MEMS Tri-axial accelerometer • Maximum Power 15mW and minimum 1μW • RF • Operates at 800MHz

  6. WBASN Architecture • Star Topology • WiMoCA nodes are the endpoints • Nodes are responsible for sensing and acquiring data • Gateway performs bridging functions Fig 2 Node Structure
