Graduation Requirements • 24 credits 2.00 unweighted GPA • 16 required courses & 8 electives • Fsa Ela (or concordant score) ACT (19 reading) SAT (430 CR or 24 reading) • Algebra 1 eoc (or concordant score) pert (97 math) NOTE: PLATO, ACE AND ONLINE COURSES MUST BE DONE BY 5/4/2018; ATTENDANCE FAILURES MUST BE CLEARED AS WELL

  4. Community & State Colleges • Admission based on High School Diploma • will need to take the PERT unless exempted by SAT/ACT scores

Community & State Colleges • Many community colleges have become State Colleges that offer 4-year degrees • Many of the Community Colleges offer degrees from partner universities (e.g. TCC has Flagler) • Benefits: • Class size, costs, teachers • Multiple degrees: AA, AS, Certificate • AA guarantees admission to SUS, but not to specific programs • Many have honors programs

State University System (sus) Minimum Admissions Requirements • Universities base their admission criteria on minimums set by Florida Board of Governors Regulations; however, they may establish higher standards • First Time In College students applying to the SUS may be considered for admission based on the following criteria: • a 2.50 or higher grade point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale as calculated by the university • present an official SAT and/or ACT score, and • meet the requirements for college level placement per Board of Governors Regulation 6.008 and high school credits (see next slide)

Admission Advice • Apply early! • READ and SAVE all materials: • Tuition Deposit Deadlines • Housing Deposit deadlines • Orientation Deposit deadlines • Admission is based on satisfactory completion of senior year – CAN RESCIND ADMISSION for poor senior grades, dropped classes or disciplinary infractions!

  14. The process: • Apply online, either through our institutional application or The Coalitionapplication. Students should only submit one application. • Create your Self-reported Student Academic Record (SSAR) • Submit the following items on the Application Status Check by the application deadline: • Self-report all ACT and/or SAT test scores • Link your SSAR • Choose one of five essay questions and upload your essay • Upload one resume • Complete the Residency Declaration for Tuition Purposesform • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), using the IRS Data-Retrieval Tool. The FAFSA should be submitted no later than December 1 for priority consideration for financial aid. Please note that letters of recommendation are not required and will not be used in the decision-making process.

Self Reported Academic Record • Fsu and uf require an ssarnot a transcript for application • submitted separately from the application, but required for the application to be complete. • Use the academic history report mailed home over the summer to fill out • Additional copies can be requested in the main office for $1 • Do NOT Send Transcripts to fsu or UF until admitted and transcripts are final

Early decision vs. early action • Early decision plans are binding — a student who is accepted as an ED applicant must attend the college. • Early action plans are nonbinding — students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the normal reply date of May 1. • Approximately 450 colleges have early decision or early action plans, and some have both. • Some colleges offer a nonbinding option called single-choice early action, under which applicants may not apply ED or EA to any other college.

Financial Aid • FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Financial Aid) www.fafsa.ed.gov • Fill out regardless of financial status – schools need it to SEE YOUR ENTIRE FINANCIAL PICTURE • now for 2018-2019 school year – use 2016 tax return information • You can print out a paper copy and see what information you need ahead of time before you sit down to fill out

BRIGHT FUTURESGENERAL REQUIREMENTS • Be a Florida resident and a U.s. citizen • Complete the ffaa • Earn a standard Florida high school diploma or its equivalent • Not have been found guilty of, or pled to, a felony charge • Be accepted and enrolled in a degree or certificate program at an eligible Florida public or independent post secondary institution • Be enrolled in at least 6 non-remedial semester credit hours per term
