  4. Application • JCU Workflow • Available via StaffOnline under Workflow • Payroll and leave application system for James Cook University staff • Staff have to submit payroll claims every two weeks • Primary method of pay JCU Workflow Login Screen

Re-design Process • Identify users • Identify how current application works • Identify issues with current application • Propose a solution to address these issues • Create a paper-prototype • Create a low-fidelity prototype to test navigation • Create a high-fidelity prototype to test solution • Implement changes into final prototype

High-Fidelity Prototype • Implemented and hosted online • Added changes as required from low-fidelity prototype • Changes to High-Fidelity • User feedback suggestions • Date Selection: Originally drop down menu’s, now inline calendar selection • Hours Worked: Hour selections 1-5, changed to 1-12

  14. Design Evolution • Interface designs originally ‘sketched up’ • Interfaces created in Photoshop • Interface designs then placed in interactive flash presentation • Application then moved to be hosted online • Changes implemented as required as per user tests

Feedback from Users • Surveyed a select group of users, male and female, users who frequently use the application, age range from 18-50 years of age • Average effectiveness rating of 1.57 • (On Scale of 1 – 5, 1 being highest, 5 being lowest) • Users approved of following: • Job Search • Aesthetics • No issues with errors • Feedback suggested that users assumed application was full/final version
