Tried to use negotiations • Was ridiculed by Spain in the DeLome letter for being a weak leader Howard Taft • President 1909-1913 • Dollar Diplomacy – replacing bullets with money (the US will influence nations with money – investment – rather than with military/force) • Only President to get stuck in the White House bathtub William McKinley
