Skype • >9 mln users online at peak times • Close to 200 mln registered users • How many of them nomadic? • No distinction between nomadic and stationary users • Multi-device usage is increasingly common • users being nomadic and stationary at the same time • Skype hardware adoption continues to grow • Based on p2p architecture • Clients do not contain a SIP stack • Connections to the PSTN world go through servers and use SIP • Both in- and outbound calls are possible • Plus a number of complex transfer and forward cases

Co-existence or Enemies? • Enemies or not: the most efficient way to do this is to be found • Due to the nature of our network, we can’t really know the location of a user unless • user explicitly tells us which would be both unreliable and horrible in terms of user experience • We get the information from the access layer • The rest of the infrastructure can be made to work as it has been laid down now • Provided we manage to co-operate • Provided the regulatory bodies globally support the effort
