  3. RNP – Brazilian Research and Education Network Network Objectives: Production Internet traffic (Web navigation, e-mail, file transfer) Use of advanced applications and services And, also, for experimentation 27 Points of Presence (PoPs) Interconnecting about 250 education and research institutions, and other metropolitan and state networks Since 2005, main backbone was upgraded to 2.5 and 10Gbps links International connections are: 1x155 Mbps and 1x700 Mbps channels are used for the Internet production traffic 1x155 Mbps channel is used to connect to Clara Network, which connects to Géant and Abilene RNP Network

  8. Current Activities (E2E Performance WG) piPEs-BR/GFD • piPEs-BR/GFD is an architecture designed to provide measurement information using Web Services in order to interoperate with other network domains (eg. Internet2 and Geant2). • Some components have been designed and are being developed to provide the Services specified in the GFD document (MP, MA, LS, ToS, TS, RP). • The components: • A visualization tool (ICE): main access to our environment • Test Manager: minimizes client complexity and implement TopS and TS services • LS for publication and discovery of available services • Resource Protector (implement RP level 1 services) • MP Services • MA Services

  9. Current Activities (E2E Performance WG) piPEs-BR/GFD

  10. Current Activities (E2E Performance WG) ICE (Internet Computer network Eye) http://wiki.gt-med.ufsc.br/ice0.05/ice.jnlp

  11. Current Activities (E2E Performance WG) LS-UDDI • Used to get information about the piPEs-BR services • Uses UDDI technology • Development of a Lookup library for the DPS • Lookup library methods • Find service by access point (return one service object) • Find services by Type (return one or more service of this type) • Find MP (return the MP service object) • Find MA (return the MA service Object) • Find any service of piPEs-BR Structure • Register, deregister and change services • Keep alive • Adaptation of the DPS to work with NMWG schema • Developed in JAVA

  18. Active Proposed Others in mind Future Directions MPs

  19. Géant-Madrid RedIRIS-Madrid CIEMAT CLARA-SP PoP-RJ PoP-SP UFRJ Future Directions EELA deployment • Deployment of a end-to-end measurement infrastructure for project EELA: UFRJ and CIEMAT, initially. • http://www.eu-eela.org/

  20. Future Directions ICE Improvements • Graph Visualization without attaching the visualization to geographic locations: • OSGi technology integration needed by the users to install other services on demand; • More friendly user interface; • Basic Authentication scheme; 30ms 100ms 40ms destination source

  21. Future Directions perfSONAR contribution • CL-MP • Scheduling support • Generic XML configuration file • MP-SNMP • New functionalities for: • SET SNMP • MIB Browsing • Services documentation • Increase the number of installed CL-MP • LS Improvement • Multi-LS development
