Vocabulary—Act II • Inarticulate—speechless or unable to express oneself • Apprehension—a fearful feeling about the future; dread • Intuition—ability to know immediately without reasoning • To run the gauntlet—formerly, to pass between two rows of men who struck at the offender with clubs as he passed; here, a series of troubles or difficulties
