  2. Multilingualism – what is it ? It’s the use of two or more languages by one speaker or even a community of speakers. It’s becoming a social phenomenon governed by the needs of globalization and cultural openness. To be recognised as a polyglot(a person that speaks several languages), the speaker must have complete knowledge and control over the languages he/she speaks so as to sound native.

  3. Main benefits of multilingualism 1. Scientists have proofed that once you start learning two or more languages at the young age, human brain uses its greater capacity and allows in general better performance. 2. It is also said to improve human memory. 3. Conducted research shows that children speaking more than one language do much better in their studies. 4. Thanks to multilingualism we can also discover different cultures, by visiting other countries and trying to talk in their language. 5. It also allows us to watch films and read books in their original language.

  4. Does multilingualism have bad points? In general there are no weaknesses of multilingualism. 1.However, some people think that speaking more than one language can sometimes lead to a personality conflict – especially if the languages are associated to a specific religion, culture etc. 2. There is a risk none of the languages is truly well known/spoken. 3. You should be also carefull if a child is subject to medical diseases f.e. speach therapy.
