NAEYC • Stands for the National Association for the Education of Young Children • The Granddaddy of all ECE professional associations, with over 100, 000 members. • Offers members professional journals, conferences, latest research, program accreditation, forums for discussion and publications. • Cost – around $130 $65.00 for students

  3. GAYC • Stands for Georgia Association on Young Children • Our state affiliate of NAEYC, when you join NAEYC you join your state affiliate. • Provides local and state conferences, accreditations, and certifications. • Seeks to improve the lives of the children in GEORGIA by enhancing and improving the skills and knowledge of their teachers.

  4. SECA • Stands for Southern Early Childhood Association • Part of NAEYC’s comprehensive membership • Offers regional conferences and the publication “Dimensions”, which is an excellent resource for ECE professionals • Has board members and affiliate representatives from all over the south, offering opportunities for leadership

  5. ACEI • Stands for the Association for Childhood Education International • Oldest association of its type in the U.S., formed in 1892 • Promotes childhood education and development programs • Offers awards and grants to members • Has a great website http://www.acei.org/

  6. What do they have in common? • Have the well being of children in their mission statements and purposes and are dedicated to raising the quality of ECE Programs. • Seek to build and improve the ECE profession. • Gives members: • The right to vote for leadership • Make presentations and attend continuing education and professional conferences • Opportunities to publish in and receive professional publications • Opportunities to earn accreditations and certifications • Gives opportunities for participation in leadership activities, and participate in forums
