  1. Skin is the largest part of our body that performs many functions ranging from sense to protection. Besides age being a key factor that affects the skin, any problem in whichever part of the body will affect the skin as well.

  2. Dark circles, sagging skin, wrinkles, etc. are brought on by aging whereas other (facial) skin conditions include blemishes, wrinkles, acne, etc. People turn to laser face treatments in New Jersey when anti-aging products, medications, etc. haven’t been able to redress the skin problems.

  3. Laser therapy is used to treat a variety of skin conditions and ailments ranging from scars, uneven skin tone and texture, smokers’ line, unwanted hair, unwanted tattoos, birthmarks, spider veins to brown spots and uneven skin color, skin tightening, vascular lesions, pucker marks and frown lines, sagging eyelid skin and dark circles, aging skin problems like age spots, fine lines and wrinkles on the face and more.

  4. Laser resurfacing can be defined as a procedure that uses a laser to improve skin appearance or treat minor facial flaws by removing layers of skin with the two most common types of resurfacing lasers being Carbon Dioxide (CO2) (treats wrinkles, scars, warts and other conditions) and Erbium (removes superficial and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck and chest).

  5. Before you consider laser resurfacing: • An expert dermatologist will review your medical history, conduct a physical exam and discuss your expectations. • An oral antibiotic may be prescribed to keep from bacterial infection. • One must avoid excessive sun exposure.

  6. Patients may be advised to apply a topical retinoid on their skin for about four weeks before the procedure. Remember, laser resurfacing isn’t a good option for patients who have active acne or very dark skin.

  7. Types Of Lasers: Several types of lasers are used in skin laser therapy with the broad two categories being • Ablative Lasers- an intense wavelength of light is ejected into the skin in this procedure, which removes the outer layers of aged or sun damaged skin.

  8. Ablative lasers are of two types: • Carbon Dioxide Laser (Co2) that is used in case of acne scars, deep set wrinkles, birthmarks, other scarring warts, moles, skin tags, saggy skin (encourages collagen production for skin tightening), corns on feet, and sun damage.

  9. The second type is Erbium that helps remove surface-level and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck or chest with minimal burning of surrounding tissues.

  10. Non-ablative Laser- non-ablative (or non-wounding) laser works beneath the surface skin layer. It tightens the underlying skin to improve the skin tone by stimulating collagen growth. The types of Non-Ablative Laser-based treatments are as follows: • Pulsed Dye Laser • Alexandrite Laser • Nd: Yag Laser

  11. The results of laser treatments vary, depending on the technology and treatment. Laser treatments, when properly performed can visibly improve the skin conditions and problems, and the skin also gets rejuvenated with some potential complications of laser resurfacing being swelling, scarring, infection, pigmentation issues, itching, etc.

  12. Don’t worry about the complications if you choose a state of the art healthcare and wellness center for your skin.
