  2. El Imperativo -Tú Commands Formation: Affirmative • Regular verbs – take the third person singular form of the present tense • Irregular verbs – Memorize the short list!

  3. Affirmative “tÚ” commandsexamples – regular verbs “ar” verb – hablar > habla Por favor, habla mas fuerte. (Please speak louder.)

  4. Affirmative “tÚ” commandsexamples – regular verbs “er” verb – comer > come Por favor, come tu ensalada. • (Please eat your salad.)

  5. Affirmative “tÚ” commandsexamples – regular verbs “ir” verb – escribir > escribe Por favor, escribe con lápiz. (Please write in pencil.)

  6. Irregular “tÚ” commands Hacer > haz Haz la tarea. (Do the homework.)

  7. Irregular “tÚ” commands Venir > ven Ven conmigo. (Come with me.)

  8. Irregular “tÚ” commands Salir > sal Sal de la clase. (Leave the classroom.)

  9. Irregular “tÚ” commands Decir > di Di la verdad. (Tell the truth.)

  10. Irregular “tÚ” commands Poner > pon Pon las llaves en tu bolsillo. (Put the keys in your pocket.)

  14. Tú commands - Negative Formation - Regular verbs: Take the first person singular form of the present tense and remove the “o” • Add the appropriate endings as follows

  15. Tú commands - Negative • To “ar” verbs, add “es” No hables por teléfono cuando estudias. (Don’t talk on the phone when you study.)

  16. No comas esa manzana. No duermas en clase. Tú commands – NegativeTo “er” and “ir” verbs, add “as” (Don’t eat that apple.) (Don’t sleep in class.)

  17. Tú commands - Negative Formation - irregular Verbs memorize! • dar > no des • estar > no estés • ir > no vayas • saber > no sepas • ser > no seas

  18. Tú commands - Negative No le des un beso. No estés tarde. (Don’t give him a kiss.) (Don’t be late.) No vayas a clase sin tu tarea. (Don’t go to class without your homework.)

  19. Affirmative commands: Pronouns are attached to the end of the verb. Negative commands: Pronouns are placed before the verb. Pronoun Placement with Commands

  20. Affirmative: Bánate. Negative: No te despiertes tarde. Pronoun Placement with Commands (Take a bath.) (Don’t wake up late.)

  23. Poster Directions • Poster must be no larger than ½ standard poster board size • All 5 commands must be included on the poster • A minimum of 3 commands must be illustrated (magazine, newspaper clippings or drawings) • All words on the poster must be in Spanish

  24. Grading • Correct grammar and spelling 25 pts. • Punctuation 5 pts. • Appropriate pictures or illustrations to accompany text 15 pts. • Creativity 10 pts. • Neatness (no pencil, no tape, even lettering) 5 pts. • Attach this rubric to back of poster 5 pts. TOTAL value: 65 pts.
