Vision "To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes." -Dean Kamen, Founder Mission  Our mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

Core Values and Mission Team 20’s mission is to inspire our students to become world leaders and gain positive global recognition.  We strive to develop a world class program that will inspire our students to be a world class team, and to build world class robots. We will continually improve ourselves in order to create opportunities for competitive success. We will build on our success of the past; ever improving, ever maintaining integrity, and ever being a beacon of inspiration.

  6. Build Season • Kick-Off –January 4, 2013 • Watch live broadcast as a group • Split into groups to understand the game • Brainstorm functionalities of ideal robot • Organize and prioritize ideas • Design Trade-off matrix

Meetings • Pre-Season (Fall): • Every Thursday evening at 7-9pm • Rooms 134 and 136 of High School East • Build Season (January/February): • Weeknights 7-9pm in Rooms 134 & 136 of High School East • Thursdays are full team report out meetings. Other meetings are flexible working meetings. • Weekends 10am-4pm as needed • Post Season (Spring/Summer): • As needed

Important Dates • Fundraising Kickoff • IN TWO WEEKS: Thursday, October 17, 2013 • MANDATORY FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS • River Rage Off-Season Tournament • Saturday, October 26, 2013 (more info to come) • 2013 Game Kickoff (held locally as a team) • Saturday, January 4, 2014 • Tech Valley Regional Competition • Friday & Saturday, March 14-15, 2014 • Second Regional on availability • 2014 FIRST Championship Competition, St. Louis, MO • Wednesday thru Saturday, April 23-26, 2014

Role and Responsibility of the Student • Held to same standards as all • other Shen clubs and sports • Attend all Meetings • Safety Glasses • Maintain a notebook (ideas, • progress, reflections, etc.) • Meet fall fundraising goal (to • be introduced October 17) • 40 hours active participation during the build season • Team apparel at Community Events and Competitions

  13. Role of Parents • You are welcome at all meetings and events! You are an important part of our family and our success. • Parents of Freshmen are required to travel with their student to all overnight competitions. • You can help in so many ways: • Supporting your student • Transportation of equipment • Becoming a mentor • Assisting with fundraising • Grant writing • Providing food and refreshments for our weekend build season You do NOT need to be an engineer to help out!

  16. 2013-14 Membership Contribution Each student $375 due 10/24 Includes Tech Valley Regional Competition OPTIONAL COMPETITIONS: based on engagement and first come first serve basis as bus space allows River Rage $50 due 10/17 (Students and Parents) Second Regional $70 and Application due 2/6 St. Louis Championships $450 • Make checks to: Rugrunners Robotics Inc. • *Student’s name on memo line of check

  17. COMPETITION POLICY • Students must fulfill Roles & Responsibilities, complete Activity Log,and apply to attend optional competitions. Application form includes: • What have you done so far this year? What have you learned? • How will you contribute at the competition? • Spirit Scouting Safety Pit Crew Drive Team Other_________ • Which competitions do you want to attend? • Second Regional March 28-29, 2014 $70 __No __Yes • St Louis, MO April 23-26, 2014 $450 __No __Yes • Post-Season Events • Application, Activity Log, & Payment are due by Thurs, February 6 (Week 5). • Participation at optional competitions will be decided by the Advisors and Board, with input from mentors, student leaders, & others.
