  1. Homeless to Happy My first 3 years in Florida

  2. The trip down • I took a Greyhound bus from Detroit, Michigan to St Petersburg, Florida • I got caught up on my magazines, took a short nap, and listened to music.

  3. 2011-2012: Nobody asks to be homeless or wakes up one morning and says “I’ll be homeless today. “ But it happens. I ended up at Pinellas Hope aka Tent City after I ran from Michigan to Florida trying to get away from an abusive ex-husband. Yes those are tents, I slept in a 10x10 tent

  4. 2012-2013: The next place I moved to was Safe Harbor, which is right next to the Pinellas County Jail, and is run by the guards that work for the jail. We have PODS that we live in, curfew and a lot of rules. Females are separated from the males after 10pm. It is a lot like living in jail, but at least you are safe.

  5. 2014: New start at life: 2014 has been starting out to be the beginning of a great year. I started classes at Ptec, about to move into a house (Yay! No more homeless shelters!!), and I have been reunited with my eldest daughter. I am happier and enjoying life for once.
