Songs are authentic texts Songs can be linked to societal issues which might be interesting to students Songs provide good context for grammar Songs can trigger emotional and affective connections to the target language and culture Learning through songs involve different skills Why teach grammar through songs?

  3. Target structure: comparatif and possessive pronouns like le mien, le notre, le leur Song used: “Degenerations” by “Mes Aieux” Materials needed: Handouts, Computer, Internet, Projector Activity 1 “ Generation Gap”

  4. Word associations Listen to the song. Fill in the missing words Compare words and add to the table Class discussion Write sentences in your table about the old and young generation using comparatif and possessive pronouns where possible. Instructions:

  5. Target structure: if-clauses Song used: “Effet Papillon” by Benabar Materials needed: Images (handout), Computer, Internet, Projector, Tape, Markers Activity 2 “Butterfly Effect”

  6. Listen to the song (no lyrics) Discuss the main idea Pictures matching Write sentences in Conditionnel ( either present or past) to illustrate pictures Corrections, additions, discussion Optional: Letters to the dead Instructions
