  1. NASIRAT UK NEWSLETTER MARCH 2011 Friday Sermon of Hadhrat Khalifa tul Masih V (atba) 11th March 2011 Syed Dawood Muzaffer Shah Sahib Syed Dawood Muzaffer Shah sahib was the second son of Hadhrat Hazif Syed Mehmoodullah Sahib, who was the son of Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah sahib. Syed Dawood sahib was the paternal and maternal grandson of the two eminent companions of the Promised Messiah (as). His paternal grandfather was Dr. Syed Abdul Sattar Shah sahib (ra) who excelled in righteousness, purity, humility and in fulfilling his obligations to God and also to mankind. Hadhrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad (ra) related that once Hadhrat Hakim Maulvi Noor ud Din sahib (ra), who later became Khalifa tul Masih I, fell ill. The Promised Messih (as) gave a goat as sadqa. Dr. Syed Abdul Sattar Sahib stayed with Hadhrat Maulvi Noo ud Din sahib (ra) overnight, looking after him. When the Promised Messiah (as) came to visit him in the morning, Hadhrat Maulvi Noor ud Din sahib (ra) told the Promised Messiah (as) that Dr. Sahib had stayed up all night, dispensing medicine. The Promised Messiah (as) was very pleased to hear this and remarked that this family was heavenly. An example of Dr. Sahib’s patience and self-control is that once, when he was acivil surgeaon at a government hospital, he was in a Tabligh discussion with someone. During the discussion the man he was talking to, threw an earthenware pot at Dr. Sahib in anger. It hit Dr. Sahib’s head and injured him. Without saying anything to the person responsible, he quietly went to hospital and had his head bandaged. Meanwhile, the man who had hit Dr. Sahib realised that he had hit a senior government official and feared that now he might get into trouble with the police. However, Dr. Sahib returned to that man and said that he hoped that his temper had cooled down. The man apologised. Only those people with who have real self-purification can display such high morals. These are the words that Hadhrat Khalifa tul Masih V (atba) used for Dr. Sahib in his Friday sermon of 11th March 2011.

  2. The maternal grandfather of Syed Dawood Shah sahib was Maulvi Sarwar Shah sahib (ra), who was also a companion of the Promised Messiah (as). He was an extremely righteous individual. He served Jama’at Ahmadiyya as its Mufti. He offered very lengthy prayers with great piety and dignity. Once someone saw him offering nafl in the mosque and was intrigued at the fact that how Maulvi sahib offered such lengthy prayers. When the person went closer, he noticed that Maulvi sahib was continuously repeating this prayer, “Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help”. (1:5). Maulvi sahib’s congregational prayers were also very long. Syed Dawood Muzaffer Shah sahib followed in the footsteps of his ancestors quite well. He inherited all their good qualities. It was his high morals that Hadhrat Khakifa tul Masih II chose syed Dawood sahib as his son in law. Syed dawood sahib was married to Syeda Amtul Hakim sahiba, daughter of Hadhrat Khalifa tul Masih II. People say that they were a match made in heaven. They always tried to excel each other in practicing good deeds. They were always on the look out to help other people, especially the poor and needy. Syed sahib was so generous that he spent less on himself and gave most of his income away to poor and needy people. Syed Dawood Shah sahib was drawn to prayers by living in his paternal grandfather’s company. He also had a great love for Holy Qur’an. He used to read eight parts a day and also had a large portion memorised. In the last few years of his life, due to failing eyesight, he could not read Holy Qur’an during the month of Ramadhan. Once he told his grandson that he read Qur’an from memory and when he forgot, God’s angel came and reminded him. In 1944 Syed Dawood sahib offered to be Waqfe Zindagi. He wrote to Hadhrat Khalifa tul Masih II that he was repeatedly seeing him in his dreams. As a result he became a Waqfe Zindagi. He was sent to the lands in Sindh, where he served for a long time. Later he served in the Tabsheer Department. He always displayed complete obedience to Jama’at. Syed died in March 2011. Hadhrat Khalifa tul Masih V (atba) gave his whole sermon of 11th March 2011 on Syed Dawood sahib. He was also Huzur’s father in law. Huzur offered his funeral prayer in absentia after the Friday prayers. May Allah enable us to follow in his footsteps. Amin.
