EAPN Fund – the reasons for it • Monitoring of the financial situation of EAPN members and the reality of cuts in public funding for NGOs has lead EAPN to develop a fundraising strategy • Objective 2 of the 2012-2014 EAPN Strategic Plan seeks to ensure a sustainable, member-driven organisation

  4. EAPN Fund • A Fund established by EAPN in the KBF • Three Broad Objectives • Ensuring the development of EAPN and its National Networks • Increase the impact of participation of activists with direct experience of poverty • A biennial Prize for Transnational Learning

EAPN Fund • Management • Timely input from EAPN Executive to feed into management Committee • Management Committee: 4 people appointed by EAPN (renewed after each Bureau is appointed), 2 Independent people, I representative of KBF and 1 agreed independent Chair • Secretariat of the Management Committee by KBF

  6. EAPN Fund Raising Strategy • Sponsorship Events • Target 300.000 Euro, each year, in 3-5 Years • Major Donor Programme • Target 1.300.000, each year, in 3-5 Years • Individual Donor Programme • Target 300.000 Euro, each year, in 3-5 Years

Sponsorship Events • Row4 Rights (www.row4rights.nl) • 2011 - Pioneer Edition, 1 week, 19 Boats 80.000 return (50% EAPN) • 2012 - Two weeks, aim for 25 to 30 boats each week (70 to 80% for EAPN) – introduce new markets (Belgium and France and possible others) • Cycle against Poverty • 2012 - Pioneer Edition, 1 week, using similar route and infrastructure as row4rights. Target participants 150 people (age fifty plus) Dutch cyclists

Individual Donor Programme • Strategy and Proposal to be developed in 2012 • Aiming at 100 people per Country where we have a Network donating 100 Euro per year (average figures). • Need to develop mechanism for how to collect such donations using systems such as the trans-national giving programme in KBF.

  11. Principles/Constraints to inform spending • Support EAPN Matching Funds requirements • For example Prize will be in core programme but paid for from the fund. Likewise alliance building will be for alliance activities that arise in our core work programme. • Spread of Support • The Fund has a special role to increase the financial capacity of National Networks. This shouldn't mean just spreading the funds equally but it does imply an effort to over time support as many Networks as possible. It should also take account of which Networks get support from our Projects approach. • Transparency • The Fund management should be transparent in the way funds are spent and should seek to build on inputs from EAPN members.

Proposals for spending from the Fund for 2012 Amount Available: • Original EAPN Donation (50.000) Donations (10.000) Row4Rights (40.000) - Total 90.000 approx Proposal for spending by objective: 1.Ensuring the development of EAPN and its National Networks • 10% to build up Capital, • 40% solidarity Fund for NNs, • 10% solidarity Fund for EOs, • 5% EU Alliance Building, • 5% International Cooperation, 2. Increase the impact of participation of activists with direct experience ofpoverty • 10% Initiatives to support pep (this goal also mainstreamed in other areas), 3. A biennial Prize for Transnational Learning • 5% for Prize, In addition: 5% Admin and 10% X factor

  13. Proposals for spending from the Fund for 2012 • Solidarity Fund for NNs (40.000 Euro) • Divide between 3/4 Networks – See draft EAPN criteria to be finalised by Fund Management. Networks make application which is agreed finally with Fund Management • Solidarity Fund EOs (10.000) • Agree proposal with EO’s and finalised by Fund Management

  14. Proposals for spending from the Fund for 2012 • Prize (5000) • EAPN to develop proposal (see Tanya’s email asking members for ideas) • Send proposal for suggestions from Members • Finalise with Fund Management

Proposals for spending from the Fund for 2012 • International Cooperation and Global Solidarity in 2012, better coordination and visibility to this area (5000) • 1000 Euro for Ekta Parishad march • 3000 to support two delegates from previous PeP meetings to take part for a time in the March, • 1000 Euro to support our engagement in Dignity International
