  1. Pros and Cons of Technology in the Classroom By: Dana Pentenburg, DeVon Sanders, Justin Wicker

  2. Definition of Technology • Technology means the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.

  3. Computer usage in Grades k-12 • We started using technology in the classroom as early as the 1700s.

  4. Pros of Technology • In a special needs classroom it would benefit everyone because the students get to go at their own pace and the teacher gets to accomplish more. • Grants can be earned and given out to students so they can use technology. Also it can provide job opportunities in their future careers. • With computers teachers can take advantage because they can copy student records, write lesson plans, and communicate with teachers more efficiently.

  5. Cons of Technology • Technology can be very expensive and the training for learning how to do things with technology takes a massive amount of time, not just for the teacher but the students as well. • Every two or three years schools would have to get new computers so they don’t go out of date with the new technological advances. • Inner city schools would mostly likely not be able to afford the technology. • Students may be distracted by the technology and not focusing on the assignment
