RCT shift report 8 – 15 October 2008

This shift report provides an overview of the pattern test results and known problems with the RCT shift report during October 8-15, 2008. It also mentions the DCS summary, shift phone activities, and data quality monitoring.

  1. RCT shift report8 – 15 October 2008 K. Grogg Next shifter: C. Lazaridis RCT shift report

  2. 18-crate pattern test • Pattern Test performed on Oct. 9 • Known problems • Crate 5, card 3, 128 bit stuck: not in our hardware; likely a cable / connection problem • Crate 12 still needs to be investigated; possibly electron ordering problem • Crate 7 still has a problem sharing of the fg/HoE bit of card 6, region 1 with Crate 8 cards 4 and 6 • New problems • Crate 4 Isolated electrons have the 2 bit stuck low for all cards (this has been seen before) • Region sum of Crate 2, card 3, region 1 had mismatched ranks for one test • Looks like the 256 and 512 bits were switched • No chance to run pattern tests yet this week because of global run RCT shift report

  3. DCS summary • Racks have been steady all week • New DCS software version has improved the regular archiving of data points • Tuesday and Wednesday RMCs went offline (could still ping, but no information in PVSS) RCT shift report

  4. Shift phone • No shift phone calls this week RCT shift report

  5. Data quality monitoring Other DQMed runs with similar results: 64756, 64768, 65948 When running, got error messages “Invalid HTR data observed on spigot X of DCC with source id XXX” RCT shift report

  6. Run 64741: ECAL + HCAL • Used physics LUTs • Electron candidates from ECAL • Region sums from ECAL + HCAL • Run over 30,000 events RCT shift report

  7. Nonisolated electron efficiencies • Efficiency looks good • Inefficiency—a few channels which are masked in hardware but not in emulator Run 64741 RCT shift report

  8. Region efficiencies • Very good agreement between nonisolated electrons and region sums Run 64741 RCT shift report

  9. Region overefficiency • Understood—losing ~ 30% of HCAL TPGs; causes large overefficiency Run 64741 RCT shift report

  10. Run 64903: ECAL + HCAL • Used physics LUTs • Electron candidates from ECAL • Region sums from ECAL + HCAL • Run over 39,000 events RCT shift report

  11. Nonisolated electron efficiencies • Reasonable efficiency, but very low statistics (only ~80 ECAL TPGs) • Overefficiency from same effect as last run Run 64903 RCT shift report

  12. Region efficiencies • New effect—region geometry is correct, but energies between data and emulator do not agree for η = 6, 15 • Same RCT configuration key as for previous run Run 64903 RCT shift report
