Twian's popular novel chronicles the adventures of two young boys, a Prince and a Pauper, who exchange roles and stations in life. • Each boy has strong misconceptions of what the other boys life is like and series of educational and entertaining adventures play out as the boys grow more comfortable in both their real and assumed roles in life.

On the same day two boys are born: the pauper Tom and prince Edvard. • As a kid, Tom sneaks into the palace garden and meet the prince.They change clothes with each other but the guards discover them and throw out the prince, since they are almost identical.Tom Canty is a little boy from a laboring family who bears a striking resemblance to Prince Edward,the son of King Henry VIII and heir to his throne. Tom and Edward meet by chance, since both of them think each other’s life is very free and interesting, they decide to exchange places briefly as a lark; Edward will get to live as an ordinary boy, and Tom will be able to enjoy the perks of royalty. • But the two are separated before they can let everyone in on the joke, and Tom discovers as he pretends to be Price Edward that the castle is awash in corruption…
