Values in a school setting? • What values are implicit within school documents? • How are the values of the community conveyed and complied with? • How are pupils involved in discussing the core values of the school and themselves? • What do you do about challenging conflicting values? • How are values nurtured in every lesson and around the school? • What are the values that the children and staff hold dear?

  4. Examples of values – in your school? TRUTH: Curiosity, equality, honesty, intuition, optimism, truthfulness, self-knowledge, reasoning. LOVE: Caring, compassion, friendship, forgiveness, generosity, helpfulness, joy, kindness, tolerance, sharing, sympathy, patience. PEACE: Calmness, contentment, dignity, discipline, happiness, humility, understanding, patience, reflection, self-confidence, self- confidence, self-control, self-discipline, self-respect, self-respect. RIGHT CONDUCT: Contentment, courage, dependability, duty, ethics, gratitude, good behaviour, healthy living, helpfulness, leadership, initiative, unity, respect, responsibility, sacrifice, self-sufficiency, simplicity, perseverance. NON-VIOLENCE: Appreciation of others, brotherhood/sisterhood, citizenship, concern for all life, consideration, unwillingness to hurt, forgiveness, global awareness, good manners, loyalty, social justice, service to others, respect for people and property, universal love, collaboration
