  5. If the name is in blue, then that staff member has an active website that can be accessed by clicking on the hyperlink.

  6. If the name is in black, then that staff member does not have an active website. To begin creating your web page you will need to click on “Staff Login”. Even if you do not have an active page.

  7. Your “Login Name” will be the same as your network login (last name + first initial). You should have received an e-mail from School Loop recently with a default password. Enter this password and you will be prompted to create your own password. If you forget your password, you can request a temporary one to be sent to your e-mail address.

  8. You will be taken to your “Portal” site. Select where your name appears under “Create Website” The first site you will create is your home page. From there you can create additional “mini sites” which will appear as folders and consist of your classes [if you want to].

  9. Wherever you have a “pencil” icon you can add elements to your web page.

  10. These are all elements that can be added to your class web page. We are going to add a picture to our home page. So select “Picture”. Then you will have to upload the picture to your web site.

  11. You will need to give a ‘Title” to your image and then “Browse” to its location.

  12. To delete an image or element from your web page, simply click on the “trash can” above the image.

  13. We are going to add a “Resource Locker” to our home page. So select the Pencil.

  14. This time we are going to select a “Locker”. This locker can appear on all you mini-sites (class sites) you create.

  15. We are going to select “Folder” at this point. Note you can upload a “File” – it will accept Word, Excel, PDF, and Power Point. A Web link Or compressed files (zipped)

  16. We are going to name this folder “Lesson Plans 2012-13” You can store all your lesson plans in Word or PDF format in this folder for the year. Once you have given a folder name, select “Submit”

  17. Now select your “Lesson Plans” folder.

  18. Select “File” and you can upload your current lesson plans as a Word document or PDF (Adobe Reader).

  19. Give a name that will appear on the file and browse to its location. Once you have finished, then “Upload” the file.

  20. The uploaded file now is in your lesson plans folder and can be accessed by opening the folder in the resource locker and selecting the lesson plans for that week.

  21. To get back to your home page from here, just click on your name.

  22. Select “Add” to create additional mini-sites [these would be for specific classes] or individual pages to a specific class. The mini-site will allow you to add resources to specific classes [i.e. – Speech II/ Debate]. Resources like Power Points, PDF worksheets, etc.

  23. To start working on the student website select one of the sites listed under your main page.

  24. You will need to give a “Title” to your page (i.e. – Honors Algebra I). You will need to provide a “URL Name” (i.e. – halgI). You will need to select a “Templates With Navigation”. These are pages you can add links to other resources from.

  25. Once you have submitted your selections your new mini site will show under your name.

  26. Once you have added a page for this site you will need to flesh it out with your material. This is done by selecting the green “plus signs”.

  27. This time we are going to use the “Rich Text Editor” to insert a course description for this class.

  28. You type in a “Title” and then type in your text in the box below. It acts very much like Word. You can also “Copy and Paste” from a document you already have. Be sure to “Save & Exit” when you have finished.

  29. You can also create a “Resource Locker” on the class web page with resources specific to that class.

  30. As you work you should “Save Draft” occasionally. You can also “Preview Draft” to see what your published page will look like.

  31. When you have all the information on the page you want, then you will “Publish” the page. Your page will not appear hyperlinked on the Staff page until your publish it.

  32. Once you have published your page and are finished with your editing, be sure to log out of your site.

  33. You have done it! At this point you should be able to go back to the “High School Site” from our home page, load the high school staff (which should now be a blue hyperlink), and select your name to view your published page.
