Tresham and Learner Services • Good College with Outstanding features • Flat management structure • Restructure Summer 2010 • Self Assessed as Satisfactory (walk before we can run) * • Disjointed team with a lack of focus (low morale) • Underdeveloped processes (staff not understanding the policy, done what they have always done)

  4. Head of Learner Services • Commenced post mid September • Guidance & Liaison – 4FTE • Mentoring – 3 FTE • EMA / ALG, Transport, LSF – 1FTE • V Talent – 1 FTE • At Risk • Safeguarding • Admissions • Contact Centre – 2 FTE • Multiple sites • Recruitment of new staff

  5. Raising the profile • Attendance at College Management Group meetings • Developing links with Heads of School • Staff Conference in December * • Developing literature to promote the main changes to the service *

  8. Learner Support Fund • Inherited a complicated process • Administration issues (including finance and assessments) • Monitoring return • Implemented limited number of changes for in year (emergency payments) • Childcare – was particularly difficult • Move from 100% support to 45% support

Supporting ‘at risk’ • At risk of not achieving which may be safeguarding • Registers implemented to highlight learners • DDSP for Safeguarding • Mentoring implemented to pick up the 1:1 support • Link with ALS (New Head in post) • Learners in public care – pre college • Deprived Wards * • At Risk reporting developed using flags on QL • Group 1 – Safeguarding • Group 2 – Public Care • Group 3 – OXO • Group 4 – Mentoring • Group 5 – Course Identified – at risk register • Group 6 – Childcare (either LSF or Care to Learn) • Group 7 - LSF
