  2. Introduction • I am going to tell you about one of the best known woman hero in the world. The hero’s name is called Florence Nightingale.

  3. Her childhood • Born : 1820 • Parents wanted her to be a party – thrower but refused. • As she got older, enjoyed books and taking care of sick people. • She knew that God was encouraging her to be a nurse.

  4. Her education • She and her dad worked it out and her father sent her to a rich hospital to study so he would not be embarrassed. (that time hospitals were DIRTY!!!!!!!!!) • Institution of Protestant Deaconesses = 3 months • Institution for Care of Sick Gentlewoman= a lot • She refused salary!!!!

  5. How was she a leader??? • Saved thousands of lives • Cared for everyone • Never gave up on her dreams • Loved people • Even though she was sick, she taught nurses how to take care of people

  7. In the war… Died in 1910 • Was put in charge to nurse hurt people • Worked with 38 other nurses. ( she was the best ) • Saved thousands of lives • She got ill herself but kept working. ( to teach other pre-nurses how to nurse well.)
