  3. Why the Edge? • Survive Internet outages • PBX, ACD, Conferencing and Recording • Have added assurance • Voice quality • Security • Maintain carrier relationships • Integrate existing PBX Telco Internet Edge Office Location

  4. How Does the Edge Scale? 300 CCP N+1 = 600 CCP N+1 = 900 CCP Site Group

  5. How Resilient is the Edge? • Survive single Edge failure • Single core N+1 architecture • Survive telco connection failure (future) • Multicore site group architecture Telco Core 1 Core 2

  6. PureCloud EdgeTM Detailed Features

  7. Hardware • Chassis complies with the 1U rack-mount server dimension standard • RAID 1 storage • Illuminated LCD panel and buttons for manual configuration and information display • Dual power supplies for redundancy

  8. IP Communications • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based VoIP • SIP registrar for IP communication endpoints, such as IP telephones • Native Text-to-Speech (TTS) and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) processing • VoIP codecs: Opus, G.711

  9. IP Communications (Contd.) • Dynamic transcoding of VoIP communications from one codec to another • Out-of-band Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) digit support • Fax • Supports connections with SIP-compliant endpoints

  10. Telephony • Internet Protocol Public Branch Exchange (IP PBX) • Common telephony features: conference calls, call transfers, call forwarding, hold, caller ID, others • Call analysis, such as determining if a call is answered by a person, answering machine, or a PSTN status signal • Optional stereo recordings and playback

  11. Telephony (Contd.) • Able to be integrated with existing IP PBX environments • T1/E1 TDM interface options (future) • Remote survivability (continues servicing and distributing calls if connection to the PureCloud service is interrupted)

  12. Network • Supports static IPv4 addressing for Internet (Port 1), Local Area Networks (LANs), and SIP carrier connections • Supports Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) v4 (RFC2131) and v6 (RFC3315) for all network connections • 3 - 10/100/1000 On-Board Ethernet Interfaces (Expandable to 7). 1 - 10/100/1000 On-Board IPMI Diagnostic Interface

  13. Security • Communications between PureCloud Edge and the PureCloud service are encrypted and secure through TLS with mutual authentication • Voice calls are, by default, encrypted through the SRTP protocol • SIP signaling, by default, is protected through the TLS protocol • Dynamic transcription of VoIP communications when different encryptions are used by both parties

  14. Security (Contd.) • Supports Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol • Encrypted recordings (AES256 file level encryption) • SNMPv3 for user authentication and encrypted communications (future) • Encrypted customer data (AES265 disk level encryption)

  15. Configuration • Single web interface to configure • Trunks: SIP and TDM (if applicable) • Routes and call classifications • Phones

  16. Maintenance • Automatic or scheduled updates of the appliance software and firmware • Transmits logs for activity, system functionality, and performance to PureCloud for easy, consolidated viewing (customer access = future) • Supports Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) v1, v2c, and v3 for reporting to third-party network management system products
