What were they protesting against? • They were being ruled by a president who has become a dictator, President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak who reigned for 30 yrs and resigned after significant youth protest… • The people wanted a democratic system of government and so the Egyptian Government has been headed by Mohammed Morsi, of the Muslim Brotherhood, since 2012. • The Egyptian Armed Forces has since removed Morsi & replaced by a military appointed president, causing significant unrest in the country.

  21. Evaluation Term work is worth 70% • Tests • Quizzes • Culminating activities • Lab exercises • Social Issue Presentation • Research project process work Performance Task is worth 30% • Research project (15%) • Exam (15%)

Classroom expectations • No cell phone/laptop/tablet abuse • No food (we have to be careful of allergies) • Be courteous and respectful, to myself, your peers and of yourself • If you are late for class, please enter quietly & come see me afterwards to explain • It is your responsibility to catch up on missed work, not your instructor’s...

Tests • You are responsible for all scheduled tests • An unexcused absence on a test day = a mark of “0”, a phone call home and/or a Dr's note req'd. • Test make-up days will be the Friday after the test is written during lunch in Room 201(Soc Sci Clinic hrs) • If you do not write within 1 week, • you will receive a zero.

  24. Assignment Due Dates • All major assignments will have a set due date. • Extensions may be negotiated beforehand. • Process work for the research project will not be marked after the last step is due.

  25. Consequences for not meeting academic standards • Mark of 5% deduction per day to a maximum of 25% off • Requiring you to complete the original or alternative work after school or during your lunch hour (contract) • Reporting the issue to your parents • Requiring you to complete an alternative assignment • Assigning a “zero” for an assignment not completed prior to an agreed upon closure date (i.e. “Drop Dead Date”) • Suspension
