  2. History • Timberlake “the gem of the Piedmont” • 70 acres of lake and golf course • Developed in the fall of 1926 • Developers • The Timberlake Corp. • Edley Craighill, Engineer • F. L. Showalter, Contractor • The Dam was designed for the 100-year flood • The Timberlake Corp. took bankruptcy in 1930 • The Peaksview Corp. bought the property in 1945 • The water system was given to CCUSA in 1970 • The Homeowners Assn. (HOA) was set up in 1986 and continued until 1990

Rebuild Dam • HOA hired Hurt & Proffitt on July11,1995, to design the reconstruction of Timberlake • Bid opening for Dam repairs - May 23, 1996 • Construction by Counts & Dobyns began onJune 2, 1996 • Clay core material was found on adjoining property of Bobby Montgomery • Hurricane Fran brought heavy rains half-way through the construction • Dam completed November 1, 1996 • Refilling of Lake on February 17, 1997 • Easter Sunday 1997, after 40 days and 40 nights FULL LAKE water flowed thru the primary spillway
