  2. Expository Writing definition: • Informative, non-fiction writing that teaches the reader about a certain subject.

  3. Introduction to Expository Writing: • Three Parts: • Let’s compare the introduction to an expository essay to a professional wrestling match. • 

  5. What is the point of the glitz? • To catch the reader’s attention, the “HOOK” must draw the reader in. • One-two sentences

  6. The DANCE

  7. What is the point of the dance? • To define/provide any background information for the reader so s/he will understand the entire writing piece. • Usually, the writer will define any terms here. • Must be a minimum of two sentences.

  8. The PUNCH

  9. What is the point of the dance? • The thesis statement! • The writer much clearly state what s/he will be discussing for the entire writing piece. • Everything will relate back to the thesis statement.

  10. How to Create a Thesis Statement: • 1. Create a declaration: • Ask yourself what you are going to discuss in this essay, and write it simply…. • 2. Add your three subpoints: • Use commas !
