GIF, SUMMARY • - 12 chambers (44 gaps) have been irradiated with beam. • (All of them were conditioned in the LAB before GIF) • GIF had revealed problems at least in 2 (?) gaps in the first set (3 chs) • of irradiated chambers (Mario, Massimo) • and then in 11 gaps in the second set (9 chs) of irradiated chambers. • Two gaps were completely destroyed (shorts – to be check in the LAB) • One in M5R4 – I have no details but perhaps it was due to the gas problem • (short happened with GIF at 2,65 kV, gas flow was stopped 5 days before) • The second in M4R2 – it was real problem, this gap had a bad history • (short happened at negative polarity (HV = -2,28 kV, Imax =10 muA, GIF was “OFF”) • Conclusion • 1. GIF helps to spot the problems even in conditioned in the LAB chambers. • (All of irradiated chambers had shown some problems with GIF) • 2. If the chamber has any real defect – there is a high probability to destroy it with GIF. 26.11.10 Oleg 7
