  3. Tasks • Statement of purpose (Recommend to ExCom how IEEE 802 should address coexistence in existing and future specs) • Summary of current standards where coexistence is an issue • Activities already underway (e.g., 802.15.2) • Possible ways ExCom can go forward • Working Group (joint) • Task Group (joint) • TAG • Recommended practice • Output of SG (summary and report) • Schedule Jim Lansford, Mobilian Corporation

  4. Statement of Purpose • Purpose of the Study Group • Define the functional charter of this new group to best address the wireless coexistence issues. • Recommend an organization to best accomplish (New WG, Joint TG, TAG, etc) Jim Lansford, Mobilian Corporation

  5. Current Plans • Keep 802.15 TG2 unchanged so they can continue working on their specific tasks at hand. • Keep 802.11 5GSG unchanged so they can continue working on their specific tasks at hand. • Keep 802.16 unchanged. Jim Lansford, Mobilian Corporation

  6. Feedback? • What is the role of this SG? • Possible organizations going forward • Working Group (joint) • Task Group (joint) • TAG *** won straw poll *** • Recommended practice • Output of SG (summary and report) • Who works on the report? • How/when do we meet/conf call? • Schedule---is July realistic? Jim Lansford, Mobilian Corporation

  7. Meeting Summary • Secretary/editor and liaisons chosen • Straw poll indicated strong support for a Coexistence TAG • CxSG will have initial conference call in two weeks • Email distribution to attendees • Will begin work on bylaws/operating rules • Chair to research prior TAGs • Will need to determine how TAG gets called in • Correspondence will be sent to 11/15/17 liaison • Separate reflector? • Goal will be to have draft of operating rules by Portland • Ratified by attendees • Finalized and published thereafter Jim Lansford, Mobilian Corporation

  8. Conclusion • Coexistence is becoming increasingly important in IEEE 802 wireless standards • This study will recommend to ExCom the policies and procedures for future wireless standards • Needs to be coordinated with ExCom regulatory Jim Lansford, Mobilian Corporation
