The Right to Believe • Matthew 21:21-22 • Our attitude must be changed to think: Prayer first. • The believer has the right to believe. • We are not aliens—we have rights. • The picture of our covenant (1 Samuel 17:58, 18:1-4; 2 Samuel 9) • Because of David’s love for Jonathan—he didn’t know Mephibosheth (Ephesians 2:4-13, 4:17-18; Colossians 1:21; John 15:7-16) • Our right to expect to be heard is part of our covenant. • 1 Peter 3:12; Hebrews 4:14-16 • Our High Priest guarantees our being heard because of hesed (the same as David and Mephibosheth) • We have the name of Jesus. • John 16:23; Ephesians 3:15; Philippians 2:9-10; 1 John 3:22-23 • We are the seed of Abraham. • Luke 13:10-17; Galatians 3:13-14, 19-29; Romans 4:16-25. • We are the righteousness of God • 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:17, 3:21-22; Ephesians 6:14 • Righteousness = the right to be in covenant with God. • 1 Peter 3:12 • Isaiah 32:17, 54:17 • James 6:16; Matthew 6:33 Righteousness = the right to be in covenant with God.
