  1. 3D Modelling & Animation MotionBuilder: Constraints, Custom Cameras, Audio

  2. Agenda • Constraint Types and Their Application • Parent/Child Constraint • Using a Constraint Track • Creating Custom Cameras • Placing Cameras in the Shot Track • Audio Support

  3. Constraints • MotionBuilder constraint similar to Maya constraint • See Getting Started Tutorial: Animation Lesson Five • Many constraint types available • Connects two or more objects together over time • Constraints found in the Asset Browser\Templates window • Simple constraints includes Path Constraint and Parent / Child Constraint - more sophisticated constraints such as multi-referential constraints

  4. Multi-Referential Constraints • Multi-Referential : constrain a child to several individual parent objects over time. Parent1 Parent2 Parent3 Child object Time

  5. Custom Cameras • Create a custom camera • Edit properties - typical camera attributes • Create a camera animation track • Animate the camera over time with key frames • Place each custom camera on the Shot Track

  6. Select Switcher View Drag camera onto Shot Track

  7. MotionBuilder Audio • Supported audio formats .wav, .aif and .mp3 • Create a new Audio Track • Import supported audio file into the track • Set audio tack time as appropriate • Access audio settings via the properties window • Modify global volume • Fade In / Fade-Out • Some known issues with audio on Mac platform resolved in latest version • Track length marker settings not • .mp3 performance varied - use .wav or .aif

  8. MotionBuilder User Guide • Constraints:page 927 • Cameras:page 345 • Audio:page 257
