  4. Our assignment: Service Learning Project / Transform Your Community • 1. As a small group, choose a specific project, organization, and course objective that your project will meet. • 2. Research and contact your chosen organization. • 3. As a group, type 3-4 sentences explaining the project. • 4. Perform the service and complete required forms/paperwork to turn in to instructor. • 5. Service Learning Journal and Reflection • 6. Present your group project to class

  10. FREE GROCERIES! Join us each Thursday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm for a few bags of free groceries. everyone is welcome. Invite your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers! Issue/Topic: Hunger

  11. What we did/ accomplished….

  12. Greeted at the door

  13. Gave out tickets to people coming in the door to hand to person

  14. Directed people on what to grab, and where to go

  15. Broke down boxes and brought them to the playroom

  16. Helped put bags into boxes and organize the food

  17. Helped people carry out boxes of groceries to their cars

  18. Cleaned and vacuumed

  19. Group members responsibilities • We all worked together to pick a date that worked best for us • We all volunteered our time and labor • We all worked hard to work together in a group

  20. Hunger Affects US • Not always the homeless • Physical and Cognitive disabilities prevent employment • Elderly parents are caring for their disabled children • Medication costs and causing people to make choice between food or medication

  21. Completed the objective: • Integrating community engagement and social networking into viable applications in multiple environments. • We provided a direct service and interacted with people in the community face-to-face.
