Reasons Behind your Car Trunk Malfunctioning

The trunk of the car allows you to keep the luggage in a safe manner without disturbing the sitting space. So, the locking of the trunk door must be checked for a broken latch, damaged cable, and broken locking system, which are the main issues for its malfunctioning. 1. Reasons Behind Your Car Trunk Malfunctioning

  2. The trunk of your car is one of the most simple components in your vehicle but like any other mechanical part, they can also malfunction.

  3. The trunk helps you to keep your belongings while you are traveling to some destination.

  4. It will be very difficult to go on long-distance drives without a functional trunk. Here are the reasons behind the malfunctioning of the trunk.

  5. Broken latch

  6. The latch in your trunk helps to keep it shut and the latch operates in the same way as the latch located in the door or seatbelt.

  7. Moreover, there is a connecting system in the trunk and the frame of the car and when you shut the trunk, the two pieces will latch together, closing the trunk.

  8. Furthermore, whenever you open the trunk, the latch will release and the trunk gets opened and when this latch is damaged, the trunk will not open.

  9. This is caused due to excess absorption of impact around the trunk as a result of which the latch breaks and is unable to open the trunk.

  10. Damaged trunk cable

  11. Some cars do not have a handle in their trunk and completely rely on the lever in the cabin to open their trunk.

  12. Moreover, here the latch is opened not by pulling on a handle in the trunk but by pressing on a trigger which is connected to the trunk latch by a cable.

  13. However, if this cable is broken, then there will be no connection between the trunk latch and the trunk opening lever and the trunk won't open.

  14. Malfunctioning of the actuator

  15. The lock actuator is the component which controls the lock in the trunk and it is a very small motor with gears that shift when you lock the trunk.

  16. This is done to ensure that the latch doesn't release the trunk and if the motor malfunctions, then the trunk will not be able to lock or unlock.

  17. Broken locking mechanism

  18. Whenever you press the trunk lock button located inside the car or on the car keys, it sends a signal to the actuator to lock the trunk.

  19. However, when you press the button and the trunk doesn't lock, then it signifies that the battery in the button is dead or the button is not working.

  20. Finally

  21. Whenever you experience your trunk malfunctioning, then these are the reasons behind the issue.

  22. You must immediately contact a technician to fix the issue as driving with a malfunctioning trunk can be very inconvenient.
