Creating a GoHigherKY.org Account • Try to create a unique username. • Try using the first part of your e-mail address before or after your username. • Remember, you will be sending your information to colleges. Be professional when deciding on an e-mail address. • Enter your date of birth like “12/25/1981.” • Go to the home page or to “myGoHigher” to create your account.

  4. In the “Plan for College” module you can: Plan a career. Find a college. Go on a virtual tour. Prepare early for college. Learn about financial aid. Apply online for admissions and financial aid. plan for college

  5. Find out what you need to know about college preparation. Get information on deadlines, ACT/SAT and other required tests. Review the Pre-College Curriculum requirements. Learn about vocational/technical schools. Visit Kentucky Virtual High School. prepare for college

  17. Keep up with your ACT, SAT and other standardized test scores by adding them to your “Student Planner.” test scores

  21. Complete the“Career Self-Assessment” and determine which types of careers match your personality. Use the “Matching Assistant” to discover which careers match your interests. Explore a wide range of careers in the“List of Careers.” Find out which Kentucky schools have a related major. career center

Now you are ready to move to the “Career Matching Assistant.” Your Holland codes and Career Key results are saved in “myGoHigher Careers” and displayed on the “Career Matching Assistant.” Fill out the requested information, and the “Career Matching Assistant” will display a list of all careers that fit your description. career center

  24. View and compare schools. Find schools based on type or distance. Match schools based on your specific requirements. Go on a virtual campus tour of selected schools. Find Kentucky college websites with the “GoHigher Search.” select a school

  31. Apply online to the campus or campuses of your choice. Complete and submit your admissions application from GoHigherKy.org. Save your applications to “GoHigher Colleges” for easy reference. applications and transcripts

  32. Get detailed information and search for specific types of aid such as grants, loans and scholarships. Find information on college savings programs. Find free information on ways to pay for college. The first step in applying for all types of aid is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Fill out the FAFSA online at GoHigherKY.org in the “FAFSA Transfer” section. Determine your expected family contribution (EFC) before you file your FAFSA.   34. Filling out the FAFSA is the first step in applying for financial aid. The GoHigherKY.org “FAFSA Transfer” will allow you to transfer certain data from your GoHigherKY.org profile straight to the FAFSA application. It’s free. FAFSA Transfer

  35. Fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1 of the year you plan to attend college. Some grants (free money) are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, so apply early. FAFSA transfer

  40. myGoHigher applications • Once you begin an application, “myGoHigher” will: • Track where you stopped and link you to all your applications in process. • Give you the date and confirmation number of your submitted applications. • You can easily: • Add or delete applications. • Review the status of your applications, either submitted or in progress.
