The New ISTE Standards: • Focus more on skills and expertise and less on tools • Were released at NECC in 2007 • Include: • Creativity and Innovation • Communication and Collaboration • Research and Information Fluency • Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, and Decision-Making • Digital Citizenship • Technology Operations and Concepts

  3. Standard 1: Creativity and Innovation • Students will: • Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, and processes • Create original works • Use models and simulations for exploration • Identify trends and forecast possibilities

  4. Standard 2: Communication and Collaboration • Students will: • Interact, collaborate, and publish with others using digital media • Communicate information and ideas effectively • Develop cultural understanding and global awareness • Contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems

  5. Standard 3: Research and Information Fluency • Plan strategies to guide inquiry • Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information • Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools • Process data and report results

  6. Standard 4: Critical thinking, Problem-Solving, and Decision-Making • Identify and define problems and questions • Plan and manage activities to develop a solution • Collect and analyze data • Use multiple processes for exploration of alternative solutions

  7. Standard 5: Digital Citizenship • Advocate and practice safe, legal, and responsible use of information and technology • Exhibit a positive attitude toward technology • Demonstrate personal responsibility for lifelong learning • Exhibit leadership for digital citizenship

  8. Standard 6: Technology Operations and Concepts • Understand and use technology systems • Select and use applications effectively and productively • Troubleshoot systems and applications • Transfer current knowledge to learning of new technologies
