    2. What is an Expository Essay? Expository is just a synonym for information The expository essay attempts to completely cover a narrow topic. The information is clear & concise, to the point. Your job is to totally expose the topic. Makes the information unmistakably clear to your audience.

    3. An expository essay is totally objective Your job is to explain & inform Don’t give an opinion or an argument. This is an impartial analysis of facts & evidence It is written in the third person, “he, she”.

    4. Know Your Audience The goal of an expository essay is to the reader a full understanding of a complex process or situation. Ask yourself if your readers are familiar with your topic. Don’t not to "overstate the case” Provide all the relevant information on your topic Don’t filling your essay with general information.

    5. The Expository Essay Format It has an Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. You can use the techniques of compare and contrast, cause and effect. use examples, statistics and or definitions.

    6. Introduction Paragrah The expository essay introduction is a statement of the essay’s thesis. Sub-topics will be developed within the essay body.

    7. The Pargaraphs Each paragraph of the body must have an main idea example that directly relates to the essay thesis.
