One-Stop Operator • UCHRA designated as One-Stop Operator by the Consortium • Streamlines services by: • Working together to ensure no duplication of services • Working as a team • All partners are knowledgeable of all available services • Questions, ways to improve, suggestions, etc. are discussed at quarterly Consortium meetings • Cross training • Best practices/integrated services: • Co-located with county UCHRA offices • Improvements to service delivery, integration, and service delivery by: • Appointment of a Site Manager and a State Wagner Peyser lead • Workshops

  3. WIA Funding • First quarter reductions will be offset using carry-over funds • A transfer of Dislocated Worker funds will be used to cover the deficit in the Adult Program • Have requested additional funding from TDLWD for Rapid Response Reserve funds

  4. Career Center Closings • Tennessee Career Center at Carthage (Smith County) • Loss of 1.8 FTE Wagner Peyser Staff • Loss of $17,582.00 in shared costs

  5. Rapid Response • LWIA 7 is fully prepared to assume the Rapid Response functions as of July 1, 2013 • The current Dislocated Worker Program Manager is aware of the Rapid Response procedures and will assume those responsibilities • Coordination with local Wagner Peyser staff will be necessary to provide high quality Rapid Response Services

Job Outlook in LWIA 7 • Projected Employment Growth 2008 – 2018: • Registered Nurses – 1.9% annual % change • Licensed Practical Nurses – 1.7% annual % change • Home Health Aides – 5.3% annual % change • Hot Jobs to 2018: • Automotive Service Technicians & Mechanics – Excellent Job Outlook, with 25 average annual openings • Occupation Profile: • Shows a Bright Outlook Statewide for Special Education, Preschool, Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle School, and Secondary Teachers

Partnerships & Collaborations • Coordination with Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program • Partnering with Tennessee Technological University to apply for federal funding through The Make it in America Challenge • Funding sources: Economic Development Administration (EDA), National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST), bureaus of the US Dept. of Commerce (DOC), Employment & Training Administration (ETA), US Dept. of Labor (DOL), and Delta Regional Authority (DRA)

Case Management • Will continue to utilize the Global Career Development Facilitator training • Improves customer service • Increases knowledge among staff in each of the 12 GCDF competencies • Encourages team building and networking • Administrative staff will continue to monitor all data entered into the system to ensure integrity and quality of data by using: • Data Validation requirements • Monitoring Review guide • Technical Assistance Manual

  11. Open Case Loads/TEGL 17-05 • Currently reviewing all active participant cases • Will set a new local policy regarding managing cases/exits • Administrative staff will be assigned to monitor active case loads • Will look at registration dates, services provided, current status, etc.

  12. Tennessee Works Act • Contact has been made with local employers to discuss the benefits of the TWA program • Flexile Corp. and Flowserve (Putnam Co.) • Contacted the three businesses in LWIA 7 who have received Fast Tract grants over the past year • SKU (Fentress Co.), Kardol Quality Products (Pickett Co.), and Fitzgerald Truck Parts & Sales (Pickett Co.) • Currently have one employer who is interested in participating and will be hiring soon • The details of the program, along with the LWIA 7 goals, have been discussed with all participating Career Center partners
