  8. Improving Awareness • Executive sponsorship is key • Communicate why the change is necessary and how it will benefit the user. • Communicate a schedule and what steps will be taken to ease the transition. Change the Why?’s to Why not?’s

  9. Desire • Desire to participate in the change • Is the change easier/harder than current? • Desire to support the change Users need to be motivated.

  10. Factors that Improve Desire • Change is easier than old way • Well designed user experience • Education: value, benefits, etc. • Provide additional valuable features to attract usage • Don’t: • Bribe, Penalize, Contests, Default browser home

  12. Factors that Improve Knowledge • Education and training • Demos, screenshots • Proper governance planning

  13. Ability • Ability to participate in the change • New skills may need to be developed. Improving Ability • Time will need to be provided to develop new skills • On-going coaching and support

  14. Reinforcement • How will the change be reinforced? • Will users tend to revert back to old behaviors? Behaviors needing reinforcement are typically ones that require “some discipline”.
