  1. Careers: Interest Inventory – ICAP 7 11/13/13

  2. Warm-up • What activities or school subject interest you the most? • List 3 careers you are interested in learning about. • Do you think your interests are related to the careers you want to learn about? Explain.

  3. Keyboarding Practice • You may go onto the keyboarding games website and practice using the lessons or tests. • No Games!

  4. Interest Inventory • An interest inventory is a tool for helping you determine what you are interested in. • Often, interest inventories are a series of questions to which you answer like, dislike, or not sure. • The computer then uses that information to match you with careers that match your interests.

  5. Interest inventory practice • For each of the following statements, choose like, dislike, or not sure. • Build kitchen cabinets • Guard money in an armored car • Study space travel

  6. College in Colorado Account • Follow the instructions on page SH42 to create an account for College in Colorado. • As you complete a step, cross it out. Make sure you completely finish a step before moving on to the next one. • When finished, record your username and password on page 41 and on the notecard I am providing. • Be sure to clearly write your name on the notecard.

  7. Interest Profiler • Now that you have your account, you are ready to take the interest profiler. • Click on the Career Planning Tab • Click on the Learn About Yourself section • Click on the Interest Profiler. • When finished, click on the View Careers button to see what careers match the interest areas you indicated. • Complete P9

  8. Interest Profiler Extension • Identify your best and worst matches • Explain why you think your best match fits your skills and interests

  9. Navigating CollegeinColorado • It is easy to use a website of program when you know where to go. Follow along as we explore CollegeinColorado together. • Turn to SH 43 and 44

  10. Career Investigation • Now that you know what you are doing, it is your turn to investigate careers. • Turn to P9: Interest profiler results and use this information to choose a career you would like to explore today. • Complete Sh 44 • If there is information you cannot find on the CollegeinColorado website, use a search engine to locate the missing info
