  3. What is the OpenFabrics Alliance An Alliance of Companies, Institutions and Customers working together to produce, release support and promote Open Source software to take advantage of the highest performance standard interconnect technology on servers, workstations and storage systems with widely used operating systems to improve applications where the business solution is enhanced with higher performance, lower latency and more efficient energy use.

  4. Mutual Benefit  Self-Interest Purposes of the OFA Non-Profit, Mutual Benefit Corporation Develop OpenFabrics open source software for Linux, Windows and other O/S as members decide Available for download and support as part of companies’ products and institutions’ infrastructure Promote, educate and improve s/w’s capabilities Do the mutual benefits exceed the self interest normally pursued in the cause of competition amongst technologies, operating systems, middleware, applications, companies, etc.? If your answer is “No”, what do you recommend? If your answer is “Yes”, what does the Alliance to continue to build? More members? Improve functions? Ideas from you?

  5. How does the Alliance get things done at the Moment All members are Board Members with a Vote The Board has delegated its functions to an Executive Working Group that any member can participate in - Jim Ryan is Chair of the XWG, Johann George, Treasurer Working Groups so far, that anyone can join, for: Development – Linux and Windows Integration, Testing, Release and Support Linux – OFED Windows WinOF Interoperability Testing and Logo with UNH-IOL Marketing – promotion, PR, events, recruiting, education Legal – IP, code hygiene, licensing, contribution, By-laws, web site Webmaster – Jeff Becker; Administrator – Daniela George

  9. If these are Issues, what shall we do? It is the same small group of volunteers running things as an “avocation”, should we get more formal “OFED” has become the Brand, and its not temporary as planned Is “WinOF” ready for prime time how do we promote it? Should we be trying to recruit Microsoft “IB” is still the dominant technology driver Is “iWARP” the only RDMA-over-Ethernet for OFA Is a wider focus than HPC needed e.g Data Center? More promotion and evangelism/education?
