  1. Taiga Biome By Austin Endorf and Cody Pospisil

  2. Landforms • Glaciers smoothed out land mass and carved out lakes, rivers, ect. • Mountains and dormant volcanoes such as Mt. McKinley. • Taigas aren’t found in the southern hemisphere because there is not enough landmass.

  3. Climate • The climate is cold and wet. • Winter=6 months Fall=3 months Spring=1 month Summer=1 month

  4. Temperature • Coldest winter temperature recorded is -65 degrees F, and the warmest recorded winter temperature is 30 degrees F. • Summer’s warmest temperature is 70 degrees F, and its coldest temperature is 30 degrees F.

  5. Rainfall • The taiga ismoderatelywet. • Annual precipitation is 12-33 inches. • Most precipitation falls in Summer as rain.

  6. Plants • There are many plants in the taiga. • The white fir and the Balsam fir can grow to be 100 feet tall. • The 2 shortest trees are the eastern red Cedar and the Black Spruce both peaking at 25 feet tall. • Picture of a Balsam Fir 

  7. Animals • We split the animals into groups. • The omnivores are the Black Bears, Grizzly Bears, and River Otters. • The herbivores are Snowshoe Rabbits and the Moose • The carnivores are Bald Eagles, Bobcats, Canadian Lynx, Gray Wolves, Long-Eared Owls, Red Foxes, and Wolverines.

  8. Insects The flying insects are Butterflies, Larch Sawflies, Mosquitoes, Spruce-bark Beetles, and Spruce cone worms. The insects that can’t fly are Ants, Earthworms, and Spruce Budworms.

  9. Conclusion • In Conclusion the Taiga is a diverse biome with many animals, intresting insects, tall plants, cold temperature, lots of rain, and amazing landforms.
