WORLD STRIDES • World strides has led student educational tour groups for over 40 years. • Tour leaders and night chaperones go through background checks with the company and are employees of World Strides. Bus drivers are contracted out but still background checked. • They have scheduled an exciting tour of New York City for our 8th graders. • This is to be an educational tour that will enhance their historical & cultural knowledge.

WHAT’S INCLUDED • ROUNDTRIP AIRFARE • HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS • ALL MEALS (either buffet style or allotment) • ALL ADMISSION FEES • LIABILITY AND ACCIDENT INSURANCE • FIELD JOURNALS • COURSE LEADER • NIGHT CHAPERONES IN HOTEL • ONLINE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES • 24 HOUR EMERGENCY SUPPORT • SIGHTSEEING TRANSPORTATION

  4. CHAPERONES/GROUP • Blalack teachers and staffonly • Absences are considered school activities • Typically get a group between 40-50 students. (Need to keep it to one bus.) • After 50 paid students, waitlist created.

  7. Activities • We would have activities at most stops to keep the learning atmosphere going. • Twitter feed - BMSNYC

SAFETY AND SECURITY World strides provides incredible security for our students. • Lanyard for each student-this does not come off until they get home! • Toll free emergency number to call in case they are separated from the group. (Students will also have sponsors numbers as well) • Dr. On call • Security personnel in hallways from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. • Tour guide with the group the whole time • 1 sponsor per 10 students

ITINERARY • Meet at DFW on Friday morning, May 17 (IT WILL BE VERY EARLY – 4am). • Parents bring students to airport and come in with them to say good bye at Security. • Four days of site seeing, adventure, excitement, education and fun. • Return to DFW Monday, May 20 in the evening around 10:30pm. • A complete itinerary will be provided at a later date for paid participants. • Parents pickup students at airport on the way home.

  10. ELIGIBILITY STANDARDS • Student who meet the following eligibility standards are responsible for all trip payments. • Academic • Behavior • Attendance

  11. ACADEMIC STANDARDS FOR ELIGIBILITY • Students must exhibit strong academic standing during first semester. • Pass all classes during the first semester. • Students ask teachers for what they will miss during the trip and complete all assignments before we leave.

  12. DISCIPLINARY STANDARDS FOR ELIGIBILITY • Students must exhibit exemplary citizenship throughout the school year. • No DAEP placements/suspensions. • No multiple ISS assignments. • All decisions regarding removal from the final trip roster are the decision of the Blalack administration and cannot be appealed.

  13. ATTENDANCE STANDARDS • Students must comply with compulsory attendance law and Blalack attendance reporting guidelines. • Must meet 90% compulsory attendance law. • All absences must be verified.

  14. COST • Total cost for all inclusive 4 Days/3 Nights in NEW YORK $2289 (includes Full Refund Package) • Payments would be ~$286 a month and would be due by March 3, 2013

  15. Payment Options Pay one lump sum of $2190 after making the $99 deposit. 2. Select EZ pay installment and have them debit your checking account for 8 months @ ~$286 a month – no late/handling fees. 3. Pay monthly installments on your own @ ~$286 a month. *With this option, you have a $6 monthly handling fee + a late fee of $15 would apply should the payment be late.

  18. WHILE TRAVELING… Expectations while on the trip: • Appropriate Blalack dress code will be enforced • Appropriate Blalack behavior will be enforced –students not acting appropriately or students not following directions from an adult can and will be sent home at parent’s expense
