Providing Confidence and Clear Messages about Working Online… • Issues surrounding online safety are highlighted during student inductions, Safer Internet Day, and “How Safe Are You?” events and ‘Thinkuknow’ workshops • Ensuring students are aware we can and DO monitor what they do whilst online via Ranger Remote • Proving to be a DETERRENT

Educate Learners: Empowering them to make informed choices… • A variety of activities and tasks delivered through Mahara and Supported Independent Study Sessions • Use of Government websites as resources to make learners aware of online dangers and relevant legislation • Malicious Communications' Act 1988 • Cyber-Bullying • Identity Fraud • Grooming • Direct students to ‘Thinkuknow’ and CEOP websites and resources • Newham College’s e-Safety Button – providing a safe and confidential avenue for students to report abuse

6. Equipping Staff with the Skills to Confidently Supportlearners to work safely online… • Staff are able to attend e-Safety training sessions with Newham College’s internal CEOP Ambassador • E-learning team provide in-house training • Activation of Ranger Remote: monitoring software

7. Classroom Management Tool Ranger Remote Designed specifically for education, Ranger software provides everything you need to manage your ICT network and equipment

Make Lines of Responsibility for Safeguarding Online Clear to All • Effective policies and disclosure procedures in place • Students and staff sign an ‘Acceptable Use’ policy • Students monitored via audits and watchful Study Coaches • Successful liaison between Study Coaches, HoLA’s and CTL’s • Investigations carried out thoroughly and student accounts can be temporarily suspended • Robust and resilient e-Safety policies and systems updated every 6 months

9. Safeguarding and Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 • Work closely with the Additional Learning Needs team • We have materials, videos, lesson plans made specifically for Special Educational Needs students • ALN team have access to these resources and deliver to their students
