RECENT EVENTS • Crash of COMAIR 5191 in Lexington, Kentucky • Air traffic controller contract implemented September 3 • Very Light Jets (VLJs) – 5,000 possible by 2017 - Eclipse 500 certified by the FAA – Session 9.1, Friday morning - FAA working to incorporate VLJs into National Airspace System • Airbus A380 - Increased separation standards for approach and landing - FAA modeling impact at San Francisco, Memphis, Anchorage, JFK • FAA UAS/UAV Efforts – Spring 2007 Meeting • Technical Center’s B727 “retired” • New Directors: Dr. Wilson Felder – FAA Technical Center Charles Leader – Joint Planning and Development Office
