What is the GTP? • Requirements Degree in a relevant subject, over 24 and GCSE in English and Maths • Duration Normally 3 terms, but can be reduced depending on prior experience. • Needs assessment To produce an individualised training plan • Skills tests ICT Literacy Numeracy • Training 50% timetable Mentor support Director to oversee Primary school visit Second school experience • Assessment Lesson observations 1.5 days Interview Portfolio

  4. St. Mary's College DRB Funding for 2002/3 Salary grant & training grant St. Mary’s College DRB received funding for 20 GTP posts. Number of GTP students trained: 24 Only agreed to take on a GTP trainee if they had a mentor who had been trained Used Advanced Mentors and ASTs as directors
